BLTS in Art Lessons

Here is an example of how a BLTS display can be used interactively in lessons. The BLTS criteria and shield are displayed in a prominent area of the room. At the end of the lesson students review the BLTS skills that they have utilized in the lesson. They move the laminated version of the skill into the centre of the shield and explain their choice. The responses are interesting because they can represent skills that are general to all of the class, yet they can also be highly personal. For example, a student who was absent during the previous lesson selected ‘adapting’ as the BLTS skill used.  This is a good way to draw learning during that lesson to a close and to assess the students self awareness of their own learning profile.
