This starter activity works well for interpreting graphs, diagrams or cycles. Working in pairs, one student with a whiteboard and the other facing the projector or given an information sheet. The student is required to interpret and describe data available for their partner to draw. The task can also be used to develop specific vocabulary, develop communication skills and make students use their higher order thinking skills.
